After a year or so idling away time and squandering the royalties from Vom Your Sproggans and Boke Your Drarsh, it took threats of legal action and violence from the management (Grassy), to persuade the Dun Ringhills to set aside their indolent Rock God lifestyles, and create their first and only (so far) concept album.

Flang Your Doodle tells of Viking influence on the Outer Hebrides, and how they came, raped, pillaged and left. Based on a true legend, it tells how Bjorn and his men tried to tow the Hebrides back to Norway, but only succeeded in breaking them up into lots of small islands (the present day Outer Hebrides) for their troubles. And then they burned down all the trees. Bastards!

Recorded in Knock Studios between October 1993, Easter 1994 and Summer 1994, Flang saw the introduction of folky instruments to complement the celtic feel of the concept. The album also has a commentary provided by the late 'Skip', linking the songs together.

Flang Your Doodle features a more professional tape cover due to Jane's discovery of the capabilities of MS Publisher. The excellent cover is based on an original painting by guitarist Jason.
Marking a radical break from convention, the Dun Ringills decided to record their fourth album, Dances with Lobsters, in the big city of Edinburgh.

Jons father in law owned a video making company and Jon managed to scrounge some time in their proper professional studio. However, the band still ended up recording the songs on the old trusty MR300. This time however, it was perched on top of proper high tech equipment, so it felt like it was recorded on a proper commercial set up.

In October 1995 Jason and Wattie came down from Stornoway and Robin came across from Glasgow and all crashed at Jon's city penthouse. By day, the band beavered away in the studio and at night ate lots of large meals in Jons house.

After several gruelling days and numerous burger lunches, a work of art was in the bag and ready for release. However, Jon took ages getting the tapes copied and it wasn’t actually released until May 1996.

The album title, Dances with Lobsters came about as a tribute to Jasons career as captain of a lobster boat in Harris. Jason produced yet another stunning cover.
