THE HERMITS HOMELY HUT
High on a hill top , looking far out to sea
Murdo is happy as he's finished his tea
The rocks and the wave tops are shaded with red
As the sun drifts so slowly , through clouds overhead
Chorus
All I want is to live my life In a land away from strife
The hermits role I chose to play Watching nature day by day

The call of the seabirds , the spray and the swell
With mountains behind , weaves a mystical spell
The silence of evening , the coming of night
He watches the sun , till it fades out of sight
Chorus

FAR OUT TO SEA( OH NO)
A silent shape at end of day
Comes round the headland through the spray
Rounded shields and a raven sail
Men with battle axe and mail
Chorus
Far out to sea
The longships are getting nearer Far out to sea
The raiders are getting clearer

A dragon prow with eyes of flame
Warriors cry their chieftains name
Upon his head a helm of horn
Looking on his prey with scorn

The longship glides on to the beach
People running out of reach
Burning roofs and cries of fear
Keeping hidden till it's clear

Chorus
They'll take your beasts and eat your food
burn your homes cos their made of wood

MONKS ARE GLUM
We are monks, we are monks
We don't have much fun
We are monks, we are monks
We are really rather glum
We read books And we pray
We read books and we pray every day
We sleep in bunks And we smell
We are Christians
So we won't go to hell
OH NO IT'S THE VIKINGS
No lyrics here either
THE SAINT AIN'T FAINT (HEARTED)
Holy man
Stands upon the shore
Sea wind tells a tale of holy war
Saw a sail against the sunset
Now there's something moving In the dark out there

Good people
It's time to run and hide
The Viking comes Upon the morning tide
Take your children , your wives
Run for your lives
Run to the hills
Run to the hills

The Norseman is coming With his sword in his hand
He's come to take your family He's come to take your land
Will you stand and fight
For what you know is right Or will you fall
Into the hands of Viking might

CEART OF THE OCEAN
I come from a land
Where the north wind blows
Till my fields
Where the cold stream flows
But the wanderlust is in me
Far horizons call
Ragnarok has got me
With my back to the wall

So build me a longship Of sweet yellow pine
Bid me farewell At the waterline
Wish me good hunting
A bright edge to my sword A fair wind to speed me To Valhallas reward

Chorus
I'm a gypsy of the ocean
A pirate of the sea
With the salt on my tongue
And my hair blowing free
The east winds my lover
The wave is my foe
Bend your backs to the oars boys
It's westward we go

Set sail for an island That's far in the west
The wind and the sea Put our ships to the test
Saw land in the moonlight Found nobody there
But a man on a cliff top With strange looking hair

BJORNS HORNS
You people here , you lowly race
Deserve to be put in your place (This lands too good for you)
Your fields of green and lochs of blue
They were not meant for the likes of you (This lands too good for you)

Chorus I want (I want)
This land it will be mine I need ( I need)
Oh Thor give me a sign

Your spiritual and your temporal peace
It's mine to take if I so please
(This lands too good for you)
You people here you lowly race
Deserve to be put in your place

Chorus

CALUM WALRUS' LAMENT
And they say the sun has never been brighter
And they say the sky was never so blue
And they say the breeze has never been warmer
And the rain that falls is just like the dew

Chorus
And all it takes to spoil this picture
And all it takes to spoil the view
Is a love of war and the need to plunder
And a Viking blade descending on you

And they say the air has never been fresher
And they say the fruit is thick on the tree
Buts what's the use of all this beauty
When all around your land is not free

HEAVE HO AWAY WE GO
Fix the chains Tow tow
Hoist the sail Go Go
Bend your backs Row row Never fail

Ride the waves Splash splash
Quickly sail Dash dash
Lightning strikes Your looking pale

Tow the isle Tug tug
Midges too Bug bug
Don't sink What ever you do

OH FLICK
This cunning plan of noble birth
To shift a junk of Gods own earth
Began at dawn this fateful day
As I watched the longships in the spray

The Vikings say it's their intent
To move rocks stronger than cement
With chains as an umbilical cord
They'll tow us over to their fjord

The towing starts but rocks do break
Leaving Barra in their wake
"Never fear" old Bjorn does yell
" There's still the rest on which to dwell"

A cry goes up from Viking mouth
As Uist breaks off in the south
And swears do fly in ancient Norse
Which sounds to me so very coarse

More breaking sounds and Bjorn goes "Bah"
And welcome to Benbecula
Harder still they row their craft
With new made isles left in their aft

And last the Uist of the north
Broke apart for all it's worth
A floating peat in Atlantic swell
A place for Uistochs to dwell

Harris stays with the isle of heather
With Tarbert holding both together
The Vikings could not the effort make
And anyway the chain did break

THE TREES THEY DO GROW BURNT

CLEAR OFF
Don't invite those folks who would
Take your last splinter of wood
And leave your fire with ashes bare
To face the night without a glare

Go home
Far away Go home
You cannot stay

And don't invite the friendly smile
That gives a hand across the style
While all the time with eyes alert
Is trying to see right up your skirt

Chorus

Don't invite the jealous eye
Of those who covet what they spy
And come and visit everyday
And then announce their going to stay

Chorus

SUNRISE ON THE SMUIR
And none here either so don't bother looking.

DIGGUM DA (POTATOES)
Oh Diggum Da Diggum Da
Diggum Da Potatoes
Diggum Da Diggum Da Diggum Da Potatoes
Diggum Da Diggum Da Diggum Da potatoes
Diggum,Diggum ,Diggum ,Diggum Diggum Da Potatoes
I DON'T LIKE SHEEP
Small animal Woolly animal
Animal with very little brain
Small animal Woolly animal
Sleeps out in the rain

Chorus
I don't like sheep
They make me want to weep I don't like sheep
Their not the apple of my eye Unless
Unless they're in a pie

Get behind the wheel
Of my automobile
And go out for a drive
Why does that sheep
By the side of the road
Have to get to the other side

Chorus

Bee Without A Bumble
This is my job
It gets me down
I sit here all the day
Watching as the world goes by
While getting monthly pay

Chorus
So far to go I can’t see the end
But driven on I stumble
I lost my way a long time ago
I’m a bee without a bumble

This is my car
I drive it home
And sit in traffic jams
Watching other cars go by
And ladies pushing prams

Chorus
So far to go I can’t see the end
But driven on I stumble
I lost my way a long time ago
I’m a bee without a bumble

This is my house I pay the rent
And all them monthly bills
Trying to keep my family warm
While keeping out the chills

Chorus
So far to go I can’t see the end
But driven on I stumble
I lost my way a long time ago
I’m a bee without a bumble
